January 2015, while scouting for a workshop I gave for the Mono Lake Committee.
One of the few silver linings to the dark clouds of California's current drought are some of the photographic conditions at Mono Lake. Going back through sixteen years of images from the area I'd say that this is near the lowest I've seen the lake, creating lots of foreground interest in some less-travelled areas such as the one I'm showing above. With any luck, this will be the last year the lake is so low.
